2018 Call for Scholarship Applications

The Detroit-Windsor Chapter of the American Foundry Society will, again, award student
scholarships in 2018. Our intent is to provide financial assistance to worthy candidates who
demonstrate an interest in metal castings and are enrolled at an institution with an FEF
certified or affiliated program that is associated with the Detroit-Windsor AFS Chapter.

Eligible students must complete a “DWAFS Scholarship Application” in order to be considered
for one of the awards. To be considered, all applications must be received by February 9,
2018 12:00pm.

Eligibility will be based on the following criteria;
1.  All applicants must be registered with FEF prior to submitting their information to
DWAFS. Applications will not be considered for students who are not registered with

2.  Students who have received a DWAFS or FEF (CIC) National Award in the preceding
calendar year are ineligible.

3.  Students must fill out the first page of the application (which includes an essay) and
then submit the information to their Key Professor.

4.  Each Key Professor is requested to help with the evaluation of candidates by answering
2 questions about the student. These are to be found on the application itself. Key                                                                                                                      Professors should then submit the completed application to: dwafs.scholarships@comcast.net
5.  The DWAFS Scholarship Team will review/assess all applications and then select the
award recipients.

6.  Scholarships will be awarded at the Detroit-Windsor AFS Chapter Education Night on
Thursday, March 29th at Conor O’Neill’s Irish Pub in Ann Arbor
